Summary: Let's Have Fun in LoL!

First week, I introduced the game, League of Legends, and how the games go on.

In the second week, I talked about the 5 major positions in Summoner's Rift and what they should do during a game. They are ADC, APC, SUP, JG and Tank. Assembling them into a team is a strategy to compete with the other team.

My third, fourth, fifth, sixth blog posts describe the three lanes and jungle area in Summoner's Rift.

Next, I used my favorite two champions as the titles of my seventh and eighth blog posts. They were Teemo and Thresh.

And then, professional e-sports leagues were the main point of my ninth post. I mentioned some famous leagues in it, and as well I posted a video regarding that Taiwanese team once won the world championship.

At the end, I hope that all the people can love and enjoy LoL.

Professional E-sports Competitions of LoL

Taipei Assassin won League of Legends Season 2 World Champions,
which was held by WCG.

There are some professional e-sports (電子競技) leagues in the world. For instance, GPL , LNL , OGN , LCS , NACL are known and a little famous in Taiwan, while WCG is the highest class of these e-sports events.

1.GPL (Garena Premier League)

GPL is an e-sports league for Asian professional LoL teams. It divides Asia into five regions: Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau, Vietnam, Singapore/Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines. The teams must prove themselves to be the best among their regions to qualify to compete with teams from other regions and fight for the championship.

2.LNL (League of Legends Nova League)

Garena company established LNL for the teams in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau to compete for accessing to GPL.

3.OGN (OnGameNet)

OGN is a Korean TV company which organized the largest series of LoL tournaments in Korea. In addition, OGN has also held leagues for many popular games like Star Craft (星海爭霸), Sudden Attack, Kart Rider (跑跑卡丁車), and so on.

4.LCS (League of Legends Championship Series)

LCS is held by Riot, a company which developed and operates LoL. However, it is for North American and European professional teams.

5.NACL (North American Challenger League)

NACL is a long-term league and held during the off season. Furthermore, the purpose is to let the high-end teams which are potential to access to LCS compete with others.

6.WCG (World Cyber Games)

WCG is the first e-sports platform where players can contact with others by competing. Since it has been founded for 13 years, it held tournaments for many games, and players from 70 countries have matched via WCG.

GPL 2013 Final was held in Taipei Arena on August 29th this year,
and this was the first time that e-sports competitions
were held in such a large occasion like Taipei Arena.

The Supreme SUP --- Thresh

Thresh      the Chain Warden

I think Thresh is an absolutely supreme SUP champion because he has the most CC spells in LoL and these spells are excellently suitable for a SUP to dominate the bottom lane.

This video shows the strength of combination of Thresh's spells.

Death Sentence

Thresh emits his hook and bind an enemy hit by the hook, and then the enemy will be dragged and dazed for 1.5 second. If Thresh uses this spell again when he has caught an enemy, he will fly next to the enemy.

Dark Passage

Thresh throws his lantern on the ground and give a shield to allies near the lantern. If an ally click the lantern, Thresh will pull the lantern and as well the ally back.

The Box

Thresh creates a pentagonal box, which includes five walls, with himself as the center. If an enemy hit the wall, he will get damage and slowed by 99% for 2 second.
Slowed by 99% is just like becoming a cripple.  XDD

Thresh has the abilities to bind an enemy, cripple the enemies, fly to the enemy, and make an ally fly to himself. If one can make the best use of them and combine them into a perfect combo of spells, he/she will become the hero of the game.

Do you wonder what will happen when there are 5 lanterns? Watch it. And hope you are interested!

My Favorite Champion --- Teemo

Teemo   the Swift Scout

Teemo is my first champion that I have played in LoL, and I love him very much not only because he is undoubtedly cute but also because his spells and abilities are outstanding. The above picture shows some Teemo's skins.

Captain Teemo Pentakill(五連殺)

Toxic Shock

One of Teemo's abilities called Toxic Shock is that his basic attack can poison the enemy and then cause additional AP damage, so he needs high AP to enhance this powerful skill.

You can switch to 0:40 to see how the mushrooms work.

Noxious Trap

Another feature of Teemo is the supreme ultimate, Noxious Trap. Teemo can use it to place an invisible mushroom which will exposure if the enemy step on it, causing damage and slowing surrounding enemies. The mushrooms can exist 10 minutes after being put in the ground.
This ultimate really annoys most players. If one step on enemy's mushroom, he will say," What? Oh Noooooooooo!" and be poisoned. However, if the enemy step on one's mushroom, he will laugh out," Hahahaha, I got you!!!!"

Teemo Must Die!!!!!!

Due to his excellent abilities, many players in games will first kill Teemo as soon as Teemo got into their sight. Some players even say," Teemo must die!!!" and make some videos and paragraphs to condemn or taunt Teemo. But I think that Teemo is very very cure!!! You guys don't need to do that.

There is an official statistical data, which shows how many times Teemo had been executed on page 2 and some interesting information.

Neutral Monsters and Buffs in the Jungle of Summoner's Rift

There are some neutral monsters in the jungle area of Summoner's Rift, and some of them have unique buffs which can enhance the abilities of the champion who has killed the monsters. Junglers rely on killing these monsters in jungle area to promote their wealth and level.

(The pictures below were captured in the game by myself.)

The Wraiths

The Wraiths lie in two camps, and each camp contains one Wraith (幽靈) and three Lesser Wraiths (小幽靈). However, the Wraiths won't supply any buff, but the champion having killed the Wraith will gain an amount of health and mana.

The Wolves

The Wolves are located in other two camps, and there are one Giant Wolf (巨狼) and two Wolves (狼) in each camp. Like Wraith, the champion having killed the Giant Wolf will receive an amount of health and mana.

The Golems

The Golems are situated in other two camps, and there are one Big Golem (大魔像) and one Golem (魔像) in each camp. Just like Wraith and Giant Wolf, the champion who has killed the Big Golem will gain an amount of health and mana.

The Lizards

The Lizards also stay in two camps, and each camp includes one Lizard Elder (蜥蜴長者) and two Young Lizards (幼年蜥蜴). If a champion kills the Lizard Elder, he/she will obtain a buff called Blessing of the Lizard Elder. The buff provides true damage and reducing the enemy's speed when attacking.

(True damage (真實傷害): calculating damage without considering armor or magic resistance)

The Ancient Golem

There are two camps containing one Ancient Golem (遠古魔像) and two Young Lizards in each. If a champion kills the Ancient Golem  he/she will obtain a buff called Crest of the Ancient Golem. The buff provides increasing mana/energy regeneration (魔力/能量恢復速度) and reducing cooldown (技能冷卻).

The Dragon

The Dragon (飛龍) lies in an independent and unique camp, which is also called Dragon Lake. When one champion kills the Dragon, his/her whole team will gain 190 gold each champion. It means that Dragon is an important economic source, so this place usually happen big battles.

The Baron Nashor
Like Dragon, Baron Nashor (巴龍) lies in a unique camp beside the river. Its health and attack are so high that it usually needs a whole team to kill it. When one champion successfully kills Baron Nashor, his/her whole teammates will gain a large amount of gold; however, the most important is that he/she and his/her alive teammates will obtain a legendary buff called Exalted with Baron Nasher. This buff can significantly increase one's AD, AP, health and mana regeneration.

At the end, I would love to show the funny videos about what will happen when the same 10 champions meet and fight!!

The Bottom Lane of Summoner's Rift

Bottom lane (Bot) is located literally at the bottom side, and it is as long as Top. However, there is a big difference between Top and Bot. In fact, Bot is a duo-lane, which is also called a shared lane (and 雙人線 in Chinese), while Top is a solo lane. Duo-lane means there are two champions situated at Bot, and the bottom laners usually include one ADC and one Sup.

Most ADCs are marksmen (射手); that is to say, an ADC usually has remote basic attacks (遠程普攻), so ADCs can output their damage far away from the enemy. ADC's tasks are just farming and executing enemy champions in order to gain wealth and then enhance their attack damage (物理攻擊), attack speed (攻擊速度), life steal (普攻吸血), armor penetration (物理防禦穿透), critical strike chance (暴擊機率), movement speed (跑速), and so on. A successful ADC can escape from enemy's spells, basic attacks and ganking.

There are some partial Sup's tasks below:
1. Do not last hit enemy minions or champions because it will make ADC's growth slower.
2. Put wards into important bushes to prevent enemy's ganking.
3. Bother enemy bottom laners, like CC them or cutting down their health.
4. Keep ADC's survival, like helping ADC run away or healing ADC.

In the above picture, red area is Bot, yellow shows the first turrets, and blue are the places Sup should put wards in.

At the end, I want to show you two latest champions, Lucian and Jinx. They are both suitable as ADC.

The Middle Lane of Summoner's Rift

Middle lane (Mid) is the shortest lane in Summoner's Rift; thus, Mid is always considered the most important lane because one team can go to the enemy's base from theirs through Mid sooner than through Top or Bot.
Mid is, like Top, usually a solo lane, so the only middle laner should do all he/she can to farm and execute the enemy middle laner.

Middle lane champions are almost APCs, but you can seldom see some assassins shoulder the responsibility of Mid. It is because the instantly powerful damage of an assassin won't be lower than APC's.
Generally speaking, every laner can gank other enemy laners if it is possible. However, middle laners gank more often than top and bottom laners because Mid lies in the center of Summoner's Rift. The convenient location causes the fact that middle laners are easy to gank other enemy laners. But on the contrary, middle laners are easy to be ganked due to the same reason: its convenient location.

In the above picture, red area is Midyellow are the first turrets, and blue are the bushes that a middle laner needs to pay more attention to.

At the end, I put a video of Ahri's introduce. Ahri is a typical APC.

The Top Lane of Summoner's Rift

Top lane (Top) is one of the three lanes in Summoner's Rift, while the other two are middle lane (Mid) and bottom lane (Bot). Top lane is usually a solo lane, which means there is only ONE champion that appears on top lane. Thus, top lane champions, who are able to be in charge of the top lane, are approximately tanks, assassins, and even AP carries.

In laning phase*, a top champion should keep farming* as much as possible like the other two laners. What's more important is that a top champion has to survive form enemy's ganking by JG, so wards* are needed to put in bushes in order to see enemy JG who may hide in them. On the contrary, a top champion can also call his/her teammate JG to gank the enemy for economic advantage.

(*Laning phase: an early period of a game that all the champions without junglers are staying at the three lanes, killing enemy minions and champions to become wealthy for items and get experience for level up, and trying to destroy enemy's first turrets as well)

(*Farming: To get gold from enemy minions, a champion should get the last hit of each minion; that is to say, farming is an action for laners to earn gold from enemy minions.)

(*Ward: an item that has the ability to make its surrounding area visible for all the allies, usually put in bushes or jungle area)
